It’s an opportunity to shop in the open air, at a safe social distance
More than 30 businesses plan to participate in a Summer Sidewalk Sale event in NW Portland, July 10-12. It’s a chance for folks to reconnect, shop the stores and eateries they love and #supportlocal NW Portland-style.
Holding a summer sidewalk sale the weekend after July 4th has been a tradition in NW Portland for many years. And amid the COVID-19 crisis, it feels especially relevant this year, as the community works to re-open within social distancing guidelines.
“The community is looking for safe and positive ways to come back to our local businesses. We’re hearing a lot of folks saying they want to support small businesses. They understand that our local businesses are a vital part of the special character of NW Portland. So an event like this is a perfect way to connect shoppers and businesses right now. People can shop outside, in the open air, at a safe social distance,” says Lee Mendelsohn, president of the NW Business Association.

Including the NW 23rd & Slabtown areas of NW Portland
“We’re thrilled to have more than 30 businesses enlisted in the sale so far,” Mendelsohn says. “We expect to have a great event for the neighborhood. Right now, the weather forecast is for it to be a lovely, sunny weekend. We look forward to welcoming folks back to the great shopping streets of NW Portland.”
